How Bad Is Jay Cutler When It Counts?

I don't go out of my way to despise Jay Cutler, it's just every single time I look at him I get angry... I feel like the guy from Step Brothers: I don't know what it is about your face, but I just wanna punch you right in the suck hole. It's not even so much about his play (which is fucking disgusting), it's how he reacts to his mistakes. It's NEVER his fault. I've never seen someone, a professional athlete, whine more like a baby than this guy.

Well anyway I don't care to watch him play football, ever. But sometimes it's unavoidable, the Bears get a lot of hype so they get a good amount of nationally televised games. Every time I watch him he shits the bed more than I thought anyone could possibly ever shit the bed. So I decided to look up his stats in nationally televised games since he came to the Bears for TWO first round picks (2009, 2010) and a third round pick (2009) along with Kyle Orton. A ridiculous haul for one of the most overrated QB's and biggest locker room cancers in the NFL. See the end of the post for the shakeout of that deal.

Here's Jay Cutler's performance in Primetime, and I'm going to show it two different ways.... The first, all games played in Primetime. The second, I'm going to exclude games played against the Vikings and the last Monday Night Football game against the Cowboys, which will effectively exclude all games played indoors.... Let's see the difference:

2009
  • 1-4, 55.9%, 8 TD, 13 INT, 62.05 QBR
  • 0-4, 55.7%, 4 TD, 13 INT, 52.72 QBR
2010
  • 4-2, 58.1%, 6 TD, 5 INT, 81.12 QBR
  • 3-2, 58.0%, 3 TD, 4 INT, 74.82 QBR
*Includes 2 Playoff games

2011
  • 1-1, 71%, 3 TD, 0 INT, 106.9 QBR
  • 0-1, 73.6%, 1 TD, 0 INT, 99.56 QBR

2012
  • 1-1, 56.8%, 3 TD, 4 INT, 69.15 QBR
  • 0-1, 40.7%, 1 TD, 4 INT, 28.24 QBR

CAREER WITH BEARS
  • 7-8, 58.9%, 20 TD, 22 INT, 74.97 QBR
  • 3-8, 57.2%, 9 TD, 20 INT, 60.98 QBR

Now I'm not sure exactly what it is about the Vikings, but Jay Cutler obviously just plays well against only them. Unless he's playing the Cowboys in Dallas in a temperature controlled atmosphere. On top of the fact he sucks under the spotlight, he's notoriously unhappy at all times. He was disgruntled when he left Denver and he's constantly disgruntled in Chicago. He claims his calling out teammates and throwing them under the bus on the sidelines is because he wants to win so bad and that he's real competitive... But as evidence in the NFC Championship game, with a Super Bowl berth on the line, he's not all that competitive:

Not long after this "knee injury" which forced him out of the biggest game of his career (when he was 6 of 14 for 80 yards and an INT), stories started circulating about the validity of the injury.... Here's one I found particularly interesting:

An insider who lived in the same building as Kristin and Jay in Chicago tells HollywoodLife.com that the football player was “incredibly rude” to his neighbors and Kristin used to get upset over how mean he was. Even more interesting? She said he faked his playoff injury last year! “Jay was not nice at all. He would not talk to any of us [the neighbors] and was extremely stand-offish. He was all about himself,” reveals our source. So how was his relationship with former fiancee Kristin? “Kristin would call Jay a loser and a p**sy, and she’d scream it at him so everyone could hear. They would have fights about Jay being too conceited. They would also argue over how mean he was to people. She would make a point of saying hello to people in the hall, just to piss him off,” our insider laughingly tells us. In January, they got into a big blow-out argument after Jay injured his knee during the NFL playoffs. He was diagnosed with a MCL sprain. “Kristin called Jay out, saying she thought he was faking the injury and told him he was worthless.”

(Source found here)

I think that tells us about all we need to know about this guy. Just to bury the knife a little deeper, many articles were published about how the same night of the NFC Championship game, in which he was so badly injured that he couldn't come back into the game, he was able to go out to dinner and walk up the stairs with no problem:

The Tribune‘s source said Cutler “limped a tiny bit,” when he came into the restaurant. Cutler and Cavallari were joined by 11 other folks in the private dining room upstairs. Of course they had to make it public that Cutler didn’t take the elevator upstairs, he decided to walk up the stairs. To add more insult to Cutler, we’ve learned that Saints quarterback Drew Brees played six games in 2010 with the same injury. His fullback Heath Evans was on ESPN earlier this week and he let the cat out of the bag when he talked about Brees playing with the same injury.

For comparison purposes, this was taken right from Philip Rivers' Wikipedia page:

In the 2007 AFC Championship Game, Rivers' was lauded by his teammates and the press for playing the entire game with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which later required surgery and was ranked among the NFL Top 10 Gutsiest Performances. Chris Harry of the Orlando Sentinel said "I don't think anyone will ever accuse Philip Rivers of being soft." Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune said, "To go out there and put his knee, and ultimately his career, on the line. It has to go down as one of the gutsiest performances."

Cutler: NFC Championship Game. MCL Sprain. Out.
Rivers: AFC Championship Game: TORN ACL. PLAYED THROUGH IT.

And anyone that knows me knows that I'm not even a fan of Philip Rivers, but Goddammit do I respect him. I think by now we all know how I feel about Jay Cutler, for your sake I hope that we now share those same feelings.

*The picks were wheeled and dealed since then but here's a quick overview: In 2009 the Broncos used the first round pick on DE Robert Ayers. The third round pick was packaged with their own third rounder to jump back into the second round to take TE Robert Quinn and for a 4th round pick which they used on G Seth Olsen. Both have since been released. The first round pick in 2010 was used on Demaryius Thomas, who after returning from an Achilles injury last season is now a top flight WR in Denver. They also got Eric Decker in that draft.

Chicago ended up getting Jay Cutler and used the fifth round pick to take Johnny Knox.

Sucker Free Sunday: Week 7 LOCKS (Swag)

Last week was my first losing week of the season, went 1-2 (1-3-1 including the honorable mention games) so that drops my overall record to 11-6-1 (12-8-2 with honorable mentions) - okay I'm just calling them wild card picks now - so with wild cards included I'm 12-8-2, not awful but okay. So this week I actually have been monitoring a lot of the spreads due to the shake up around the league with some last minute trades. Some of them are moving in a favorable direction that I like, so here we go - rebound time:

Carolina -1 - This isn't so much about betting on the Panthers as it is going against the Redskins and their problems. I think the Redskins have a pretty good defense but I can't see them doing much of anything on the other side of the ball. It's the first time I've seen Carolina favored, so will be interesting to see how they play, but I'm sure they'll still feel like they're in the underdog role. Cam Newton had a rough game last week, but a tipped pass going his way instead of the Falcons and that game could've been completely different. I like Newton in this one, and I'll say he throws for one TD and runs for another two. He'll have to take this game over. Panthers 27, Redskins 23.

Seahawks +3 - Don't know why but I like the Seahawks here. They have the #1 rush defense in the league and they're opponent is a banged up Peyton Hillis who has struggled to get anything going this year. He doesn't have much of a chance to change that against this front. Seattle showed a spark with Viggo Mortensen here under center, so I like what they can do against Cleveland. Watch out for Doug Baldwin as he continues to impress. Seattle 23, Cleveland 16.

Ravens -8 - I don't like a veteran quarterback against the Ravens, so I obviously hate Blaine Gabbert against the Ravens. Each year we see a rookie get slaughtered by this defense and there's really no reason to think Gabbert won't have trouble. MJD will be the only one the Ravens prepare for, he will be quiet all game long and they'll force Gabbert to attempt to try and get a first down. I honestly think first downs will be an issue for Jacksonville, I see only FG's if anything at all. Flacco and Rice have been pretty much fantastic all season, I don't see it letting up on Monday Night Football. This game will get ugly quick for Blaine Gabbert. Ravens 31, Jaguars 6.

2011 Record: 11-6-1, WC 1-2-1 (12-8-2)

Wild Card games:

Indianapolis +15.5, Denver +1

Indianapolis hasn't played all that bad in their last couple games. Painter is continuing to look impressive each time out as he keeps improving. He's protecting the ball well and he's got a couple RB's at his disposal. They also have Peyton's old weapons - Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. If he can get the ball in their hands they can keep this game close. The Saints have been playing down to their competition all season, I can't see them turning it on all of a sudden for the winless Colts.

Denver has a lot going on, all eyes will be on Tim Tebow. He's starting IN FLORIDA to face the winless Dolphins. When was the last time an 0-5 team was favored? Tebow plays like an absolute champion even though everyone thinks he sucks, he still gets shit done. Now he'll be home in Florida where everyone worships him, he'll have another Tebow moment in his career and probably account for 5 TD's. Guy will have extremely high motivation and adrenaline, I see him having a huge game because he plays by far his best under extreme amounts of pressure.

Shock Of The Millenium - God Can't Help Tim Tebow From Sucking At Quarterback

Reilly By Rick Reilly
ESPN - Randy Cross doesn't know me. Wouldn't know me if I stuck my thumb in his chili. So why did he just accuse me of being anti-Christian??

Two weeks ago, I wrote that Tim Tebow is not cutting it in the NFL. According to sources I quoted within the Denver Broncos, he is not within a plastic spork of cutting it. Doesn't mean he won't someday. It's just that right now, the thousands of guys wearing his jersey in the stands have as good a chance of starting as he does. Wasn't personal. I like the kid, just not as my quarterback. Or anybody's. Not yet.

But Tuesday, CBS Sports NFL analyst Randy Cross said that media like me are bashing Tebow simply because he's openly Christian.

Come again?

"People, especially the media, root against him because of what he stands for," said Cross, who won three Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers. "My personal belief is there are people in the media, people in the stands, who are predisposed to see a guy like that fail ... just because he's so public about the way he feels."

Now wait a damn minute. I've criticized Tiger Woods enough for 10 men. He's Buddhist. Am I anti-Buddhist?

Look anyone that knows me knows I can't stand Rick Reilly, just something about him and the way he talks pisses me off, just seems like a know-it-all smug asshole who name drops everyone famous he's "friends" with. Depending on the number of stories he's written about a person or how many times he's interviewed someone determines how close they are or something. I don't know it's weirdo shit. But enough about him.... Reason I say that is I completely side with him on this one. For different reasons.

Obviously Randy Cross is a moron, I don't watch football on CBS strictly to avoid the chance he's broadcasting the game. Holy shit he sucks. I'd rather listen to Iron Eagle, nothing like TV names huh Ian? But he's an idiot for even mentioning this when he publicly blasted the most flamboyantly open Christian and author of the greatest play in Super Bowl history (and if Steve Sabol says it's the greatest play in Super Bowl history, you can take it to the bank). So how do you tell this guy he's hating Tebow because of his religion?

Fuck that, listen to this, Tim Tebow sucks. Like what is it about these people? They're so in love with this guy that they're blinded to the fact that he literally sucks at his job. The guy can't do anything wrong it's insane. And apparently he hates it. I wonder if he shows up with tats everywhere, sluts hanging out with him at 4am taking videos of them sucking his dick and posting them on Twitter just to shake this goody tooshoe image. Like he's gotta be sick of this shit by now right?

By the way how the hell did the Broncos take him in the first round? What a joke. "He's a hard worker, real leader.... He's a winner." Fuckkkkk that. You need talent, first round talent, need to be soaking wet dripping with black athlete talent. This guy won in college, wow fucking awesome. So did Ron Dayne and Rick Mirer and shit, what does that prove? What a stupid first round pick. The Broncos wanted the pub, they wanted the money Tebow would make them, they had no intention of playing this guy. They did last year because everyone in the immediate Denver area was on injured reserve and they needed someone to fill the spot and they figured they were already paying him 1st round money might as well let him absorb a few hits.

I get it, he's a nice guy and it's hard to tell someone that nice that they're not good because you know he'll respond with "Well I understand, and I'm not perfect, but I strive with the Lord to make myself better every day and I will promise to you to get better and become the best I can be." But there is when Denver has to be like "Yo guy, shut the fuck up, we're telling you that you suck stop being so nice. You didn't make yourself better, and you're not going to be playing quarterback for us." Either that or burn a bible in front of him or something so he wakes up.

And I disagree with Reilly on the religion thing. I think he does shove this shit down our throats, nice eye black bro - no one fucking cares you love God. That shit is so fucking obnoxious I can't even take it.

Welcome To The Team, Willis!

PORSCHE ON THE POST PATTERN..... 6 POINTS!

Denver Post - An odd scene out at Broncos practice today, where an incomplete pass in the end zone by Kyle Orton skipped off the ground and cracked the windshield of a Porsche in the player’s parking lot.

The Porsche, it turns out, belongs to running back Willis McGahee.

"Hey Willis, I'm Kyle, welcome to the team!" What a kick in the dick. How do you act after that? You're the new guy trying to fit in and your starting quarterback should've been traded months ago but is still there throwing missiles with no launch coordinates straight at your hundred thousand dollar car - what do you even say? Do you flip out or just try and be one of the guys who has billions of dollars and really doesn't care about it. Seriously, the only reason these assholes get mad about this shit is they don't get to go do whatever they want after practice, now they have to go out of their way to get something repaired for what amounts to maybe 2 pennies for them. McGahee probably had an entire afternoon of Xbox planned and now he only gets to play for 4 hours instead of 5. He probably asked Orton to pay for it and Orton told him to fuck off. How great would that be? "Fuck outta here new guy, Lloyd should've caught that shit go ask him to pay for it." It's stuff like this that break locker rooms apart. Denver needs to be careful, or they might implode and this could affect their season, maybe they don't get to those 5 wins they were aiming for.
