Say Hello To The Best Defensive End In The Game Everybody!

Did I or did I not say this guy was going to be the best defensive end in football within 3 years? Well I was wrong, because he'll be there much sooner. Granted I said that back in week 3, not knowing the guy who didn't start playing football until his senior year of high school and the guy who only played one year of Div. I football  would be this good this fast. He's absorbing everything he's learning at a much faster pace than anyone projected him to, and the results are nothing short of amazing. He's got 12.5 sacks right now, not bad for a guy who's playing on one of the leagues worst defenses statistically. The fact he's able to even get to the quarterback with a secondary that can't cover receivers for more than a split second shows how much of a force he's been. You can say that virtually none of the 12.5 sacks are "coverage" sacks. Another facet of his game that won't show up in the box score is his pursuit, and it was on full display last night. With Felix Jones ripping off 9 yard runs every other play, the Cowboys gave him the ball off right tackle toward the end of the first half.... In pursuit, JPP ran Jones down, made the open field tackle and also stripped him of the ball. Had the offense capitalized with a TD instead of a FG the play would've been much more publicized. It was a great hustle play, one of many plays JPP has made downfield this season. His motor has proven to be relentless, and that's why he's fast on his way to becoming the leagues most dominant defensive end player.

Who wears a wedding ring during an NFL game? People who wear wedding rings during competitive sports and who went to Harvard should stick to building computers and starting billion dollar businesses and shit, leave the quarterbacking to people who wear Uggs and/or kill dogs - you don't belong on the field.

That said, Giants with a big win yesterday. I didn't think they had it in them, no Tuck, no Hammerin' Hank, no Snee, no Jacobs, no defensive back 7. The defense has been struggling and did more of it to start the game - Freddy Jackson went pretty much untouched for 80 yards, Deon Grant looked phenomenal trying to make a play on him. Then some guy no one has ever heard of goes 60 yards untouched as Corey Webster honestly looked like he was scared to try any sort of defensive move to stop or slow him down.... It started real ugly. Then Eli pretty much took over, did a great job getting the Giants down the field using Nicks and big boy Ballard. Once they got down to the goal line Bradshaw started power spiking all over the joint and once he starts doing that shit the Giants pretty much never lose. He didn't look good early but once the patchwork offensive line grinded down the Bills front, Bradshaw started getting some holes and finally went over 100 yards this season. Dude had a huge day with the 3 TD's. Manningham was robbed of one TD and couldn't hold on to a second which completely fucked my fantasy team. Oh and my friend had Bradshaw, so double dick kick. Regardless the offense finally looked good, and that's without a Pro Bowl lineman and Jacobs in the backfield...

As for the defense, same story - looked awful early on but finally started getting pressure and slowed the Bills down. Corey Webster looked like shit all day, but made two absolutely huge INT's and one pretty much locked up the W. Picked Fitz off at the Giants 4 to give the ball back to the offense with a chance to win the game. Mathias Kiwanuka looks scary as shit coming off the edge, he almost had Fitzpatrick's wife widowed up on the sack/fumble he had in the second. The Freak Jr. JPP and his 10 foot long arms continues to groom himself into the best defensive end in the NFL with another sack to give him officially 7.5 on the year even though it seems more like 19. Osi right behind him with 5 even after basically missing an entire month and being a huge pussy all off season but to his credit, guy is coming to play. Tuck is going to take the tampon out after the bye week and for the first time in a while the defensive front will be at 100%.

After the bye the Giants will get much healthier - Tuck, Snee, Jacobs all expected to be back - Our first rounder, Prince Amukarmasamdemabol on the horizon to finally get a play maker in the secondary to help out and maybe make a tackle or something. But going forward the second half of the season looks like an absolute joke. Goes right in line with the last couple years of huge first halves and second half disasters: The Giants get the Dolphins at home and then go @New England, @SF, Philly, @NO, GB, @Dallas, WASH, @Jets, Dallas. Is that a joke? If the Giants can get this win against Miami to move to 5-2, they'll have a shot to finish 5-11 which would be pretty good. Going to enjoy this win and hopefully one more before the toughest second half schedule ever assembled in the history of the game, but at least the Jets are in there so we got a shot at 6!

Reaction: Giants 29, Eagles 16

Lot of talk going into this game, pretty standard. The Giants wanted Vick to play which was absolutely loony tunes, but they got what they asked for and beat the living shit out of him. Every time they play I get extremely nervous, but the Giants seem to have the scheme to handle him. Even in the embarrassing collapse that I'm going to forever blame on Matt Dodge, they manhandled Vick for 3 1/2 quarters. They had a 21 point lead and let their foot off the gas with their shitty prevent defense which allowed Vick to do what he wanted. When they attack him, they dominate, they force him to make stupid decisions and they lay pipe on him on virtually every play.

I'll give credit to Aaron Ross for stepping up and deciding to play like a former 1st round pick along with the rest of the secondary for playing well. But obviously the MVP's of the game was the entire defensive line. Playing without their #1 draft pick at corner and without Osi Umenyiora, they continue to get pressure at will. Jason Pierre-Paul is an absolute man child. He racked up another 2 sacks while laying some legit hits on Vick. I have no problem saying Julius Peppers Jr. will be the best defensive end in football within 3 years.

Eli Manning was for once, not retarded with the ball. Since his first quarter INT last Monday night against the Rams, he's looked pretty good. I still don't love him but if he can stay consistent it literally changes the complexion of games for the Giants. If they had any turnovers against the Eagles we'd be talking about a loss right now, not a huge win. The fact he was able to do it minus the free agent losses aka his security blankets (Steve Smith and Kevin Boss) and without his #2 and #3 receivers (Mario Manningham and Domenik Hixon) is extremely impressive. Going up against what people think is the most talented secondary in the NFL, Manning was pretty much flawless with his #1, #4 and #5 receivers. He used his RB's as targets to mix shit up and Jacobs and Bradshaw each caught a pass for a TD. Big ups to Victor Cruz, dude torched the Eagles for 2 TD's including one over the most overrated corner in history - Nnamdi Asomugha.

Next week the Giants travel to Arizona to face a sneaky Cardinals team. I don't care if they're good or not, any team with Larry Fitzgerald on it scares me. If the Giants can keep their foot on the gas and not sleep walk through this game, they'll be moving into week five 3-1 and at the top of the NFC East. The fact they can win with the amount of injuries they've sustained is nothing short of remarkable. If they can somehow keep it going until Umenyiora and Prince are healthy, they'll have two more defensive weapons ready for the gauntlet second half schedule where they face something like 24 of the last 15 Super Bowl Champions.

Reaction: Giants 28, Rams 16

My first reaction is, my predicted score of Giants 31 Rams 17 would've looked a hell of a lot better if Tom Coughlin for some inexplicable reason didn't decide to punt the ball from the Rams 30 yard line with 2:08 remaining. A 47-yard field goal there makes it 31-16 and I'm pretty much dead on. I'm considering 99% of normal humans would've kicked a field goal there, so I'm going to go ahead and say my prediction was dead on and the score was really 31-16. I'm absolutely killing it with my predictions.

As for the other prediction of Manningham going for 6 catches and 125 with 2 scores, let's ask Eli about that. If Eli knew how to lead a receiver, Manningham would have honestly had 2 TD's in the first quarter. Eli horribly under threw him both times, one resulting in an interception (weird). Then the 3rd opportunity for a TD we can only blame Manningham for tripping on the 25 yard line, almost dropping a ball that hit him right in the hands and also giving himself a concussion in the process. That spelled the end of my fantasy week, my prediction and Manningham's night. Had Eli known how to throw the ball, he would've overshot my projections for him - let's say he caught all 3 of those passes in stride - that would've been 3 catches for 158 yards and 3 scores. Sure that's wishful thinking, but any average quarterback in the NFL could have made those throws. Anyway, on to the game:
